Three reasons to choose the Better2Know Blemish Screen:

  • If you have a lump, wart, blister, rash or other blemish in your genital area, this is the screen for you
  • You do not want to go to your normal doctor and would like strict confidentiality
  • You want fast, accurate results to treat the blemish swiftly

This screen will take a swab of your blemish, wart, blister or lesion to see if it is the result of one of the STIs we test for.

What does the Blemish Screen test for?

The Blemish Screen tests for:

  • Syphilis
  • Herpes I/II (Current Infection)
  • HPV / Genital Warts

These are the most common sexually transmitted caused by warts, bumps and blisters in the genital region. You can choose to include other STIs with this screen at our reduced, bolt-on price. If you are sexually active, you may want to select our Full Screen.

What will happen at my appointment?

Your clinician will welcome you to your private appointment and collect your swab samples. They will need to collect two swab samples of the affected area. These will then be sent to our accredited laboratory to see if your blemish is caused by a Syphilis, Herpes or HPV infection.

How will I get my results?

Your results will be available in our secure, online area as soon as they are returned by the laboratory and have been reviewed by our results team. Results are uploaded to the patient area 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will also contact you by email or SMS once all your results are ready. If you prefer, a member of our sexual health advisory team will also call you to discuss your results in detail.

What if my results reveal that I have an STI?

If you test positive, do not panic. We are here to help you. Your Better2Know doctor can help you access the right treatment. Herpes can be managed by creams and antiviral medications if you have persistent and painful outbreaks, while Syphilis is curable with antibiotics.

HPV treatment will depend on which type of the virus you test positive for. There are high-risk and low-risk HPV types. Your Better2Know doctor will be able to help you.
